Where does Holy Saltmartin, the name of Ben's publishing company, come
from?
According to Ben, “Holy Saltmartin” is from Finnegan's
Wake by James Joyce. It's probably a play on the Italian
saltamartino - acrobat or tumbler, and Saint Martin of Tours - the patron
saint of all drinking and joyous occasions. “Holy
Saltmartin” is what the ants call the grasshopper in Joyce's poem
version of the Aesop fable.
