FRANK AND WALTERS SHOOT MUSIC VIDEO IN LOUTH

The Louth, Newry and Mourne Film Commission are delighted to announce that legendary Cork band ‘The Frank and Walters’ filmed the music video for their upcoming single ‘Miles and Miles’ in Louth.

The Film Commission took a very active role in making the video, helping them find local talent, locations and cast for their pop promo, as well as assisting them on the filming days. Locations used include the beautiful Ghan House, Carlingford Village, Greenore Beach and Dundalk town.

Mairtín de Barra, the Commission director, was delighted to be able to help. “We were involved in this from the beginning, planning the shoot and the locations involved. The guys were very keen to film here. They fell in love with Louth. In fact, Paul thought Carlingford was like an Austrian village! Ghan house proved a spectacular backdrop for the interior scenes. It's great that local actors were used, and I have to say, they excelled in their roles.”

Local actress Lisanne McCreanor from Ardee took a starring role in the promo along with talented local newcomers Orlaith Kent and John-Joe Murphy. Both Lisanne and Orlaith replied to an open call for local talent to register with the film commission earlier this year.

Patrick Doyle, the band's manager, said: “We were delighted to get the opportunity to work with the Film Commission on the video for ‘Miles and Miles’. This is a very exciting time for The Frank and Walters and we enjoyed working with Mairtín and the crew. Carlingford is a great location and we are very pleased with the end result.”

The Frank and Walters are signed to Fifa Records and the single ‘Miles and Miles’ will be available in September. It's taken from the Franks' forthcoming album ‘Renewed Interest in Happiness’.

Ashley Keating, drummer with The Frank and Walters said: “We used to dread doing videos, even going so far as to not appear in the last two we made (‘Plenty Times’ and ‘Underground’). . . I must admit it was the most fun I've ever had on a video shoot, the crew were amazing and made us feel really comfortable. . . all in all a great weekend in a lovely part of the world, I can't wait to do it again. . .”

The Film Commission is delighted with the outcome: “The video itself shows some of the fantastic locations and talent we have. It also shows that we have the facilities and the crew to make music videos here.”

The Frank and Walters have been around for a long time, and have recently been re-invigorated by a new guitarist and a new record contract.

‘The Frank and Walters’ appeared on Top of the Pops in 1992 with their hit single ‘After All’. Radiohead and Suede supported them in the early days and their roadie was a certain mister Noel Gallagher!
